About FICODEP Uganda

The Foundation for Integrated Community Development Programme (FICODEP Uganda)

FICODEP was established in 2008 in response to the social, economic, and educational challenges affecting marginalized and underserved communities in Uganda. The organization emerged from a deep conviction that poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, social exclusion, and community apathy can be addressed when individuals and communities are empowered through education, skills development, values formation, and participatory development approaches.

Since its establishment, FICODEP Uganda has worked alongside communities to strengthen their capacities to identify local challenges, mobilize resources, and implement sustainable solutions. The organization recognizes that communities possess valuable knowledge, assets, experiences, and aspirations that should form the foundation of development efforts. Rather than promoting dependency, FICODEP seeks to nurture self-reliance, innovation, and active citizenship.

What We Do

Discover how FICODEP empowers communities through education, livelihoods, health, environmental sustainability, and advocacy for lasting change.

Community Development & Empowerment

FICODEP works closely with communities to foster self-reliance and sustainable development. The organization helps communities identify and utilize local resources and skills, ensuring that development initiatives are rooted in local capacities. By promoting participatory planning and decision-making, FICODEP empowers community members to take an active role in shaping their own development, strengthening social cohesion and long-term resilience.

Education & Literacy Programs

We implement programs aimed at improving literacy, numeracy, and life skills among both children and adults. Through adult education and vocational training, the organization equips community members with the knowledge and practical skills they need to access better opportunities.

Environmental Sustainability

We integrate environmental protection into its community development work. The organization educates communities on sustainable farming practices, waste management, and tree planting, encouraging environmentally responsible behaviors. By promoting stewardship of natural resources

Advocacy & Rights Awareness

FICODEP also engages in advocacy to promote social inclusion, gender equality, and the rights of vulnerable populations. Through community sensitization and legal awareness programs, this is to empower individuals to claim their rights and participate fully in society.

Health & Well-being

FICODEP promotes the health and well-being of communities through awareness campaigns and targeted interventions. The focus is on key areas such as maternal and child health, hygiene, sanitation, and disease prevention, including HIV/AIDS
